Save your money for a rainy day. Save your money for a rainy day.

Save your money for a rainy day.

Save your money for a rainy day.

Money brings you happiness

An article in the Irish Times yesterday caught my eye.  It said that Ireland ranked 10th best place in the world to grow up.  As I read into this more, I noted that it was reporting on a survey published by Unicef, the children’s charity.  The research involved 29 countries and found that 86 per cent of children in Ireland were happy with their lives. According to the Minister for Environment, Phil Hogan, the water charges due to be billed to Irish householders, are still set to be introduced from first of January 2014.  That is the official date agreed with the Troika by the government of the day back in 2010.

This is also the first day that the Local Property Tax bill will be due for a full years charge.  That is a great way to ring in the new year and is sure to dampen the celebrations normally associated with that time of year.  (more…)

Most people find it easy to know the income figures as this is normally a fixed amount or amounts paid into a bank account and can be tracked through bank statements and payslips.  On the other hand, expenditure is more difficult to keep track of as there are various ways of spending. (more…)

Are you spending more money than you earn?

Most people know how much money they made last month, but have no idea how much money they spent.  With many of us relying on credit cards to pay for everyday expenses and worrying about paying when the bills comes in.

In a lot of cases we spend about 10 per cent more each month than we earn and most of the time are blissfully unaware of this fact.  We should all know the numbers: how much money (if any), we have left after the bills have been taken care of.  We should always know how much money we have to spend before we spend it.  BillsManager.com  will enable you to know the impact of every spending decision and know at the click of a button if you can really afford the purchase. Work life balance for women

On reading an article in Irish Times today, I realised that for most women who work outside of the family home, there is an ongoing battle to get the work-life balance right.   The struggle between getting that perfect balance of being there for your children when they really need you and the demands of a career would appear to be an ongoing challenge.
