To Bill Pay or to Pre Pay, that is the question.
The most recent survey by The Irish League of Credit Unions shows that nearly 40% of Irish people are still struggling to pay their bills on time and have to sacrifice their spending in other areas to get back on top of their bill payments.

Electricity Levy is increased by more than 50% – start saving now
More increases are only around the corner so start saving now. As if the winter isn’t hard enough for all of us and the ever increasing cost of fuel to keep our homes warm and bright, the Commission for Energy Regulation go ahead and approve an increase in the Public Service Obligation (PSO) levy on all electricity bills. What does this mean to the punter – well instead of paying €27.82 PSO levy per year, from October, we will all be paying €42.87 per year. (more…)

An article in the Irish Times yesterday caught my eye. It said that Ireland ranked 10th best place in the world to grow up. As I read into this more, I noted that it was reporting on a survey published by Unicef, the children’s charity. Start saving now for Water bill due January 2014
According to the Minister for Environment, Phil Hogan, the water charges due to be billed to Irish householders, are still set to be introduced from first of January 2014. That is the official date agreed with the Troika by the government of the day back in 2010.
This is also the first day that the Local Property Tax bill will be due for a full years charge. That is a great way to ring in the new year and is sure to dampen the celebrations normally associated with that time of year. (more…)
