Looking back on my childhood, I have very fond memories of visiting my Granny.  One very vivid memory is her famous jam jar referred to as Granny’s Jar.  This jar was stored in a press in her tiny kitchen and it was the jar of plenty.  The only hands allowed to dip into that Jar was that of Granny.  She really knew how to budget and manage money well.

While she didn’t have a lot of money, she always had a little treat and a drink for her grandchildren when they came to visit, but she made her  money stretch as far as she needed it to.  She never complained of not having the money to pay the bills as she always put aside the “bill money” from the money she used on a day to day basis for groceries and the like.  When she got her electric bill, there was no ranting and raving, she just went to the jar and took out the money required.  She never had a worry about whether she would have the money to pay the gas or electric bill, even the rent, all came from the jar.

Nowadays it would not be the most secure way of saving for your bills nor would it be the most efficient as most bills are automated and taken directly from your bank account.  But the concept of Granny ‘s jam jar can still be used and is a very effective way of managing money and budgeting for your household bills.

Using BillsManager.com, you can manage your money without going to the trouble of physically filling up the proverbial jam jars.  We think you could use Granny’s method, but instead of keeping the jar at home, open up a separate bank account for your bill payments.  Once your budget plan is set up, BillsManager will enable you to maintain your household budget which should only take 10 minutes a month.  BillsManager will automatically adjust your budget as required so you don’t have to remember to amend the amount your if a bill is higher or lower than is stated in your budget plan.
